Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). The following year, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. She was part of a panel discussion at the the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including weapons control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
